15 years of me

Beta Mum over at Keir Royale has tagged me with a taggy thing, and since I haven’t done one of these taggy things in such a long time I thought I’d do this one.

Apparently the task is:

15 Years in a Nutshell:
My task is to think back on the last 15 years of my life.
What would I tell someone I hadn’t seen or talked to for 15 years?
I have 10 bullet points to summarise me
At the end of my list, I have to tag 5 more people and share the torture.

15 years ago I was 15 years old and there’s a fairly good chance that if I met someone I hadn’t seen since then then I’d walk on by … school wasn’t a good time for me.

So what 10 things about myself would I tell this hypothetical person who I haven’t seen since 1993?  I suppose I’d have to look to the big events in life and the things that are important to me now, so-o:

  1. Left school in 1995 with a few highers and no idea and headed off to uni to study a BA Business Management (with HR).
  2. Spent the next few years passing banal exams and being a drunk student, although met the mrssomewhere in there and finally left uni in 1999 with an Honours degree and still no idea.
  3. The mrs and I were married in 2001 and I took my first flight (for the honeymoon) on the evening of September 11th … which was interesting.
  4. In 2003 the Lad arrived and was delivered by a team of fantastic NHS staff.
  5. In 2005 by the Lass arrived and was delivered by me and the mrs in the front seat of a ford fiesta.  NHS staff were fantastic … when they arrived.
  6. Following a stalled career as an HR Officer/Manager I dropped out of work to become a full time parent.
  7. We bought our ‘dream’ home in 2000, only for it to turn into a nightmare and we moved on in 2006 buying our real ‘dream’ home … or at least it will be when it’s been rebuilt.
  8. Having been attempting to realise some artistic ambitions and am currently doing some painting, carving and occasional papier mache.
  9. Much of my focus has become political in nature and with the SNP taking holyrood in 2007 my dream of living and raising a family in an independent Scotland seems tantalisingly near.
  10. Looking to the future, the lad starts school soon and as the lass will be following in a couple of years I’m considering my options for self-employment given my horrendous experiences as an employee in my previous employment.

Well, that took me longer than I had hoped.  I had kinda hoped that my life was full of exciting things to write about, turns out I’m a bore afterall …

… in the interests of seeing if everyone is as boring as me I’ll tag the following chaps and chapesses, all of whom should feel free to ignore the tagging as they see fit:  21st Century MummySNP Tactical VotingCalum CashleyTom Harris, Wit’s End

Normal posting will resume … eventually.

  1. Interesting stuff, particularly the arrival of “the lass” in a car which I can’t imagine was part of the plan!

Anyway, i will kindly pass on the ‘tagging’ thing but thanks for including me….

  2. you realize that I have college students and twin girls??!!! I can’t remember if I had coffee this morning nevermind the last 15 years (though I do think a lot of Spongebob and Disney were involved….) But I will gve it the old college try!

  3. Jeff,

The car defintely wasn’t part of the plan! However, rush-hour traffic combined with a “I’m not really in labour, I’ll just have a quick bath” moment from the mrs conspired against us!

    Leendaluu,

In that case I expect nothing less than 10 things you thought about doing since your last cup of coffee but realised that you:
    a) couldn’t be bothered with, or
    b) didn’t have time for!

    ;)

  4. I sure as hell wasn’t going to have a baby without having a bath first…urgh. She’s just lucky I didn’t stop to shave my legs…she’d have been a water baby!

  5. hmmm … too much information me thinks! Don’t you have a job to do or something?
