trains, planes, automobiles and … floating heads?!

It was the lads Birthday on Tuesday, his last before he starts school in August, and looking at him now it’s difficult to reconcile the image of a wee boy I see before me now with the bundle of skin that fell into our laps some 5 years ago.

A lot’s happened in that time, not least my resignation from work in general, the lass being born, moving home (twice in effect), and the ongoing renovations we have in our current abode … still it’s been good (at times) and for the most part the lad’s been good too.

The lad has had something of an obsession with the Transport Museum in Glasgow for years and so we took a wee trip up to the toon so that we could wander around the trams, trains and all manner of wheeled artifacts.

nice pic of the museum that … click on it for more (it’s not mine)

Following our saunter about that museum we wandered over to the Kelvingrove art galleries and museum which has recently completed a refurbishment and is set inside one of the most stunning buildings in Glasgow.

and that pics robbed from the BBC

Once into the art galleries though we didn’t get a huge amount of time to have a good look as tiredness took it’s toll on the kids and they were reduced to wild, flailing animals with no appreciation for art, I mean fancy that!  A five and a two year old with no appreciation for fine arts?!?!

I think the mrs and I will return at some point without the kids to have a better nose about, there’s some fine painting and a whole array of other stuff like the BIG organ in the central hall …

… on which recitals are played and by which I was mesmerised …

… other good stuff included the really obvious things like the ‘floating heads’ …

…  and the ‘flying’ spitfire …

Like I said, it would have been nice to have had a better look about, but then you can only do so much with two young kids and, to be honest, sometimes they’re just a right pain in the posterior.  Particularly when it comes to this sort of stuff.  Still it was what the lad wanted to do, it was his birthday, so you know, what can you do …

  1. The heads freak me out….ick!

  2. I didn’t really get a good look … too busy trying to stop the kids from touching priceless works of art! Hopefully next time!
