It saddens me to say that I’m not the least bit surprised by the violence that erupted in Manchester yesterday when 150,000 - 200,000 Rangers fans descended on Manchester for the UEFA Cup Final. I had a running with one before they’d even left Scotland in a village down the road from one of the motorway service stations on Tuesday afternoon … I should’ve done the Manchurians a favour and run the prick over in the road where he was being an arse.
Based on my own experience I reckon Rangers fans are probably the most aggressive and biggotted in Scotland and I think that it was inevitable that a hooligan element would make it’s way to Manchester for the match. The excuses I’ve been listening to on the radio all afternoon don’t bloody wash either:
“… the screen [in the 'fanzone'] wasn’t working …”
Aye, and pelting the technician who went to sort the problem was a big help too, wankers!
“… there weren’t enough toilets …”
So, the obvious solution was obviously to go on a rampage … should’ve pissed in their fucking empties instead of chucking them at the police.
“… the police were heavy handed …”
If the police were heavy handed it was because a bunch of Union Jack wearing pricks were chucking bottles at them, bottles which -somewhat ironically - would have made more effective projectile weapons had they been filled with piss …
I heard one women on the radio this afternoon saying that she went out to try and stop a group of ‘fans’ destroying her car, she quoted one of the fans as saying:
“We’re Scots. this is what we do”
as he and his pals continued to smash her motor to pieces outside her home. He was wrong, that’s not what Scots do, that’s what arseholes do.
Obviously, it was a minority of Rangers fans that were involved. But tell that to the people who have been terrified, assaulted and stabbed. Tell that to the real fans who were there with their family and kids. This minority has managed to have Scotland and Scots in general tarred with a disgraceful brush and they should be ashamed of themselves
Here’s some footage from the bbc:
In this piece from the BBC, a police officer can be seen being chased down and pounced on … I don’t know how he got himself so isolated but that’s not the point.
Here, we see that a fan has managed to kill both his brain cells through the consumption of alcohol (I imagine) and is promptly ‘put down’ by some charging riot police.
A bright shiny and noisy object catches the troglodytes attention sending them into a frenzy of activity as they attempt to discover it’s origins and figure out what it might be … could it be from another planet, rangers fans somewhere want to know.
I had a look for footage on youtube but it was mostly pretty poor quality, and to be honest there’s more to life. Although I had a read at some of the comments on some of the footage and it saddens me that the name of Scots and Scotland has been besmirched but a relatively small number of arsehole Rangers fans.
There’s certainly more to life than football and fighting.
