no politics in the olympics?

I’m sick to death hearing our great and good telling us that the olympics has nothing to with politics.  If that’s the case then perhaps someone whould like to explain this to me:

Now.  Unless I’ve become incredibly stupid overnight, that there is a picture of Denise Lewis olympic medalist waving the olympic torch about outside 10 Downing Street with the Gordon Brown and Tessa Jowel hovering about in the background like some sort of goons working to ‘protect’ the olympic flame for the Chinese Government …

The picture is taken from this story on the BBC’s site.

Meanwhile in Edinburgh ‘random’ and unidentified sympathisers with the Chinese Authorities has been de-facing the Mike Greenlaw’s mural, below, to remove the man in Tibetan monks robes from the image.  The image is of course a parody of the iconic image from the time of the tiananmen square massacre.

Mike Greenlaw's tiananmen Square parody
Mike Greenlaw’s Tiananmen Square parody - note the blacked out figure in the foreground, originally this character wore Tibetan monks robes.
