my house smells like excrement …

… now there’s a pleasant thought!

It’s just been one of those days, or rather it’s been one of a series of those days every parent must have at one time or another … and usually more than one, such as life.

Last Friday the lad had his pre-school booster, a wondrous concoction of live viruses and other goodies all designed, I’m quite sure, to make the parents life a misery … oh! and the child suffer a bit.  One of the most obvious side-effects of the ludicrous multiple immunisation programme that we put upon our children is frequent and irregular and irregular bowl movement.

In the lad’s case this means that he’s currently going twice a day rather than his usual twice a week.  I’ve (we’ve?) been finding (yeah, I think it’s only fair to include the lad in this) that his increase in ‘movement’ has included a middle of the night number, for which the lad is loathe to wake for and which is only discovered some time later when I toddle off to check on him before bed …. nice.

Did I mention that these stink.

On the bright side that lad has learned how to pee standing up … yay lad!  Obviously this is a key milestone in the development of any young man, he can now away and pee behind bushes without the awkward assistance of a parent, and in these days of paranoia and fear nobody wants to be doing that …

… further to his breakthrough, he’s been experimenting.  Poo’ing standing up?!  Wasn’t a great success, I wouldn’t recommend it as something to be encouraged …

Did I mention that it stank.

Oh and muggins here has to clean up the aftermath.

Still at least he made it to the toilet after I’d put him to bed tonight … almost.  Still it wasn’t in his nappy (which he’s working desperately hard on keeping dry at night), no he managed to whip that down before depositing ‘it’ on the floor.

Did I mention that it’s reeking.

Meanwhile, his sister has come down with some vaguely diagnosed ‘viral rash’ which, aside from making her tired and grumpy doesn’t seem to be having much of any effect on her.

Oh, except that it also appears to have upset her little tunny a bit … not that it’s affected her appetite at all.  No.  It’s the other end.  Well it would be, wouldn’t it …

Did I mention that it’s …

… oh forget it!
