Those of you who know the mrs and I, or if you’ve read our blogs ‘cover-to-cover’, will know that we had ‘difficulties’ with our previous neighbours. So much so that we had to move house several years earlier than planned.
We moved from a mid-terraced, mass produced, late 1970’s, ex-suburb paper box on the verge of collapse into an semi-detached, one-of-a-kind, mid 1920’s, brick ‘construct’ on the verge of collapse, on the side of a hill 40 odd miles away from anything approaching a city … it turns out it was a good move :D
So, to our nasty, ignorant, arrogant, obnoxious, slumjumping, ex-neighbours I’d like to say:
Thankyou! If it wasn’t for you there are people who would never have been met, friends who would never have been made, opportunitues we would have missed, and risks we would never have taken.
We would still live in a cramped mid-terrace in a city we didn’t like, in a suburb where we were scared to go out. We would still be stuck in house knowing no-one in our street, talking to no-one in our street, knowing no-one in the area at all. We would still be shutting the curtains while it was still light outside to save us from your prying eyes, we don’t close our curtains anymore.
So thankyou ex-neighbours, for forcing us to leave you behind to enjoy a better life than you’ll ever have, to enjoy a better quality of life than you could ever dream of, to kick start the sort of proper social life that you would never understand and thankyou for the friends we would never have made.
Our life is better now … is yours?
