… but not necessarily what you were expecting

This tender morsel ‘fell’ into the jaws of my very speedy Labrador / whippet (we think) cross, although I wasn’t as appreciative as I might’ve been had I not had the lass in the pram, the lad wrapped up in his coat, and plans to visit the shop for some milk … and had it not been driving with rain
We arrived around the front of the house just in time to see a blur of black streak across the land out front (that’ll be the dog then: Willow), pounce on the bunny and throttle what will eventually be dinner 8) … it now resides in the freezer with Willow’s last two kills until I can find a decent recipe. Skinning & paunching a rabbit isn’t as tricky as you might think given a little Internet know how 8)
We did eventually get to the shop, although I had to run around finding somewhere to store the rabbit until later … of course previous experience had me deposit it in the garage until I could get at it later  … rabbit definitely had not been on my list today
The dog seems to be developing a habit for this, last time she caught one I had been for a walk with the kids, the deceased ended up being carried in the pram basket
You don’t get food much fresher than this for your kids ;)

That’s so…..small town of you. Something I’d most likely do if I hadn’t fallen in love with a pet bunny a few years back. I’d do it with any other sort of edible animal though. This post is hilarious.

Small town? nope, we’ve got about 300 folks living here (in the village not my house :? ), more like a small village … if it moves and you can catch it, hell why not eat it :) .
there was a pair of grouse sat on the fence this morning and if the dog could fly I would have been a very happy man

I killed a grouse with a rock once, the dumb bird freaked out when it saw it coming and ran right into it. It was tasty too, it was cooked a little dry though. I’m sure you could find a simple way to get those on your plate.
I’m from a very small town also. 25 year round residents. Those were the days…
